Bernard L. Schechter

Ocala, FL - Bernard Schechter, 81, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. 

Mr. Schechter was born September 19, 1942, in New York, NY, the son of the late George and Edythe (Hecht) Schechter. He was an entrepreneur, owning several floor covering and household appliance repair businesses throughout the years. 

Mr. Schechter enjoyed boating, fishing, riding motorcycles, working on projects around the house, and spending time with his pets. Mr. Schechter was involved in civic activities as a past president of a local Lion’s Club and member of his local government while residing in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Schechter is survived by his son Brian Schechter (Gretchen Ovesny) and daughters Chantell Carlisle (Shane) and Julie Craig (Shawn); his brother David Schechter; his sister Paula Mullis; his grandchildren Austin Stapp (Gabrielle); Cheyenne Stapp; Jamie Ellen Stapp; Paige Schechter; Morgan Schechter and great-grandchild Alexander Glenn. Mr. Schechter is also survived by his long-time friend and caregiver of 20 years, Diane Thompson. 

Arrangements – Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family in Beaverdale Memorial Park and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
