ESSEX - Beatrice D. Fiorino, 78, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Chestelm Health and Rehabilitation Center in Moodus with her daughter by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Fiorino in 1996 after 32 years of marriage.
Mrs. Fiorino was born August 1, 1939 in Astoria, Queens, NY daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Higgins) Doherty.
Known to everyone as Bea, she had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest. She had a smile for everyone and always took the time to ask people how they were. She loved antiquing, reading mystery novels and music. She knew the words to any song she would hear and always loved dancing no matter where she was. Her infectious spirit could light up any room. She will be missed by so many. Bea's family is so grateful to the loving and caring staff at Chestelm Heath and Rehab that cared for her in the last years of her life.
Bea was a Realtor for over 25 years at Coldwell Banker prior to her retirement. She loved the excitement of local and national politics and was elected as the first woman to be a council member on the Town Council in Cheshire where she served for six years. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Raphael’s Hospital and the Shubert Theater in New Haven.
Bea is survived by her loving daughter, Meredith and her husband Bruce Newman and their son, Miles Newman of Old Saybrook. Her sister, Elizabeth Grambach and her husband, Robert of Nashua, New Hampshire. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her son Paul Fiorino.
Arrangements- Calling hours for Beatrice will be Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 5 to 7 P.M at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410. Mrs. Fiorino’s funeral will be held 11 A.M, Friday, March 23, 2018, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St, Essex, 06426. Family and friends are asked meet directly at church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery at another time.
