Bradenton, FL Thomas F. Barton passed away at home in Bradenton, FL on May 20 at the age of 91.

Thomas was born in Waterbury, CT February 15, 1931. After high school Thomas entered the service in the Army, but was chosen to be a Marine. He is a Korean War veteran. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After active duty Thomas served in the Marine Reserves for the next 6 years at the Naval Submarine Base New London, Groton, CT. Thomas became a Master Electrician who was famous all around for his ability to splice cable. He started and ran Nutmeg Cable Company, Nutmeg Line Constructors in CT as well as a company in New Jersey. He performed such services as electrical installation in both the Holland and Lincoln tunnels in New York as well as the first storm sirens in areas of CT. Thomas was a lifelong member and retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Thomas lived out his retirement in sunny Florida with his wife, Rose, staying active and golfing every chance he got.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents William A. Barton, Mary Lynch Barton, wife Marilyn M. Barton and son Michael James Barton. Thomas is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rosemary (Spillman) from Glastonbury, CT, sister, Teresa Barton of Bronx, NY; sister-in-law, Florence (Lollie) Barton of Prospect, CT; daughters, Mary Corey (Eddie) of Prospect, CT, Terry Barton of Florence, KY and Joan Barton Henson of Verona, KY, son Thomas A. Barton (Lori) of Naugatuck, CT; stepdaughter, Linda Borreson of Amherst, MA; stepsons, Donald Krusinski (Rose) of Glastonbury, CT and Steven Kross (Dawn) of Montgomery, AL; 4 grandchildren, Jay Cooper of KY, Jonathan Barton of FL, Ronald Barton of CT, Teara Barton of KY, 3 step grandchildren, Kepa Eizaguirre-Borreson of MA, Caleb Kross of AL, Matthew Krusinki of CT as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all dearly beloved.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00am at the Catholic Parish of Middlebury and Southbury, St. John of the Cross Campus, 1263 West Street, Middlebury, CT 06762. Military Honors will be accorded immediately following the Mass. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at the church. Calling hours are Friday, July 22, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT. Members of the Naugatuck Veteran’s Council will assemble at the funeral home Friday at 6:00pm.
