Barbara W. Miller

Cheshire – Barbara W. Miller, 87, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2017 at the Masonicare Health Center. She was married to the late Richard H. Miller for 45 years and to the late Richard A. Smith for 13 years.

Mrs. Miller was born on January 3, 1930, the daughter of the late Ives and Julia (Rankin) Welles. She was a wife, a mother, and an active volunteer to many local organizations including the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Meriden where she was awarded life membership, the Gaylord Hospital Auxiliary, the Cheshire Convalescent Center Patient Recreation Department, the Cheshire Senior Center Shut-in Program, and the Cheshire Blood Mobile where she served as Co-Chairman. Barbara was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter Kimberly Smith Gregoire, and her son Gregory Smith. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Joseph Gregoire, Cara Gregoire, Daniel Gregoire, Matthew Smith, Andrew Smith, Ben Smith, Noel Miller, and her great grandchildren, Kirra Smith and Eleanor Gregoire. All will miss her sense of humor and her irrepressible energy for life.

Arrangements - A memorial service for Mrs. Miller will be Tuesday, July 18, at 11:00 A.M., at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive, Cheshire. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is in charge of arrangements.
