Barbara (Jeremiah) Wentworth, 74 of Cheshire went home peacefully Wednesday, November 16, 2017 after a short illness. She was much beloved by friends and family.
Barbara was born October 29, 1943, in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The child of the late Francis and Jeanette (Nadreau) Wentworth. Barbara graduated from Maria Assumpta Academy in Petersham, MA in 1961 and went on to earn a Diploma in Nursing from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Lowell MA in 1965. During Barbara’s nursing career she worked as an RN in both Hospitals and Skilled Nursing Facilities. In addition to Nursing she spent 3 years doing Missionary work in Texas, and was a minister for Bethel Evangelistic Ministries in Florida. While living in Florida she wrote a regular religious column for the local newspaper and published 3 Booklets on prayer. Barbara lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Texas, South Carolina, & Florida, before making her home in Cheshire in 2008. While in Cheshire she lived at Cheshire Hillside Village, was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and The Cheshire YMCA.
Barbara is survived by a sister Carol Moquin of Massachusetts; two brothers Richard Wentworth (Cheryl) and Gary Wentworth (Susan) both of New Hampshire; 7 nephews and a niece. The most important thing in Barbara’s life was her faith, and she lived out that faith everyday with acts of kindness and compassion shown to all those around her. She believed in community and inspired those beliefs in others. Barbara was a talented photographer whose work reflected her love of nature. She had a natural affinity for the outdoors, especially for the mountains, and trees. She enjoyed hiking in the woods, and spending time at the beach.
A Memorial Service & Mass will be held Saturday December 16, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main Street, Cheshire. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Cheshire CT, 06410, or The Cheshire YMCA, 967 South Main Street, Cheshire CT 06410. The Alderson- Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
