Watertown, CT Lovando Banton, 68, formerly of Naugatuck, CT, died peacefully May 30, 2023 at her home.
Lovando was born July 19, 1954 in Waterbury, CT daughter of Evelyn C. (Brown) Banton and the late Alfred N. Banton and was raised in Naugatuck. Lovando retired from WARC in Waterbury, where she worked for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing classes at the Yankee Quilter in Seymour, CT and piano lessons with Nanette Jordan. She loved Motown music, watching news, attending church services, arts and crafts, cooking and assisting her housemates with sewing buttons.
In addition to her mother, Evelyn Banton of Naugatuck, CT Lovando is survived by her sisters, Frederica Banton of Naugatuck, CT, Melody Banton of Waterbury, CT, and Miava Banton of Cheshire, CT; her brothers, David Banton of Waterbury, CT and Normandy A. Banton of Naugatuck, CT; her aunts, Betty Brooks, Eleanor Moore, Helen Petty, Juanita Brown, Cynthia Dozier and Vivian Weatherspoon. In addition to her father, Alfred N. Banton, Lovanda was predeceased by her brother, Alonzo Banton, her uncle, Felton Brown, Jr., and her aunts, Vera Brown and Marvaleen Brown.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:30am at House of Prayer Church, 1245 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury. Everyone attending is asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
