Naugatuck-Alonzo D. Banton, 54, of 284 Church Street died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Banton was born January 26, 1956 in Waterbury a son of Evelyn C. (Brown) Banton of Naugatuck and the late Alfred N. Banton. He was a graduate of Hillside Middle School and received his GED from Naugatuck High School. He was a former employee of the Naugatuck Glass Company and Hemmingway and Bartlett Company most recently he was employed as the maintenance supervisor of Burnsies Coffee Shop on Maple Street, Naugatuck. He was a car enthusiast and attended many car shows especially ones that feature muscle cars. He loved old movies and music. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
Besides his mother of Naugatuck he is survived by two brothers, David L. Banton of Waterbury and Normandy A. Banton of Naugatuck, four sisters, Lavonda E. Banton and Frederica Banton both of Naugatuck, Melody D. Banton of Waterbury and Miava Banton of Cheshire.
The funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening May 6, 2010 at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:30 pm until time of service.
