Prospect – Mr. Frank John “Pa” Bainer Sr. died peacefully February 20, 2010 at Hospice in Branford after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. He leaves his beloved wife of 51 years Theresa Huber Bainer of Prospect, his daughter Mary Bainer Gale & her husband Gary, their children Gary & Jessica of East Hartford, his son Frank Bainer Jr. & wife Lisa, their children Frankie, Steven & Marissa all of Prospect, His son Mark Bainer of Wethersfield and his children Nichole and Brett. He was predeceased by a brother Richard and leaves a brother Lawrence, a sister Judith Nelson and a sister Dianne Caruso, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service. An avid Boston Red Sox fan & was involved with decades of coaching youth programs that included teams in the Prospect Little League, the Boy’s Club, Pearl Street and many recreational, youth programs and men’s softball throughout the years. Highlights include New England championships with St. Anthony’s CYO Basketball and multiple championships with Caruso’s men’s softball. He also pioneered the baseball & basketball programs for St. Hedwig’s School in Union City.

He will be sorely missed by the many lives he has touched.

The Funeral will be held on Tuesday Feb. 23, 2010 at 9:30 AM from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Rt 69 Prospect, to St. Anthony’s Church for a Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday Feb. 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Connecticut Hospice 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford Ct. 06405
