NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Arletta T. (Durr) Subataitis, 92 of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, Nov. 17, 2011 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter, in Waterbury. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Subataitis.
Mrs. Subataitis was born in Sagamore, Mich., July 13, 1919, a daughter of the late John and Florine (Armstrong) Durr and had been a Naugatuck resident for over 60 years. She was a retired Bookkeeper, having been employed by the former Naugatuck National Bank, Rubin's Men Store, and T.J. Max until her retirement. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Naugatuck, and a former member of Evergreen Chapter, # 22, Order of the Eastern Star, the Twilight Bowling League and enjoyed playing Bridge and Baking. She was an avid Yankee's fan. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, especially in her last years.
The family would like to thank all the Staff of the Waterbury Visiting Nurses- HOPE Team, and especially her private caregiver, Maria, for the wonderful care and support they provided for Arletta.
She is survived by a son, Joel Subataitis of Waterbury, two daughters, Jill Tomasiello and her husband Louis of Wolcott, and Jana Feeney of Waterbury; a sister, Dorine Rowley of Naugatuck and a sister-in-law Ellen Niski of Naugatuck; 4 grandchildren, Eric, Elizabeth, Andrew and Anthony; 4 great-grandchildren, Neila, Brigid, Grace and Cooper, and several nieces and nephews and many longtime friends. She was predeceased by a son John Curt Subataitis.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday Nov. 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Cross St., Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the service
