Arleen Veronica Kelly (Varley) passed away peacefully on July 16, 2014 surrounded by her three children, Edward W. Varley of Phoenix, AZ, Kellyann Varley Day of Cheshire, CT and Daniel Varley of Hamden, CT. Arleen was born on March 24, 1939 in Manhattan, NY to William N. Kelly and Veronica Fauchot Kelly and grew up in the Parkchester area of The Bronx, NY. She married Edward J Varley and moved to Lake Carmel to raise her family. Arleen loved life and was well known by many. She had many great times at Lake Carmel with her children, her family and friends at Beach 7. Arleen was a dedicated mother to her children and her son in law John Day and an awesome grandma to her three grandchildren, Aaron Orlando of New Jersey, Zoeann and Maxwell Day of Cheshire. Arleen held many jobs in her life, but her passion was being a mother, grandmother and volunteer. She was an avid volunteer for the American Red Cross, Cyctic Fibrosis and New Reach (Formerly New Haven Home Recovery). Arleen was predeceased by Edward J. Varley and her brother Patrick James Kelly. Besides her children and grandchildren, Arleen leaves her brother William Kelly and his wife Janet of West Hempstead, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to go directly to The Spring Glen United Church of Christ, 1825 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517 on Monday, July 21, 2014 for Arleen’s funeral service at 11AM. Interment will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 3PM to 6PM.
