Cheshire – SP4 - Anthony Joseph Zurowski Jr., 72, formerly of Cheshire, passed away at Bristol Hospital on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Mr. Zurowski Jr. was born May 5, 1952, in New Haven, the son of the late Anthony and Bernice (Suwinski) Zurowski. He lived most of his life in Cheshire CT as well as Colorado Springs and Texas. He attended Wilcox Technical School with a Concentration in Carpentry. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army serving multiple tours in Vietnam and receiving multiple honors including – National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w 60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars, Oversea Service Bars. He served as Commander of the VFW and coordinated many ceremonies for the Memorial Day Parade and other events. He always made sure every Veteran’s grave in town was decorated with a flag for any military holidays. He went to architecture school and was a Master of his craft; Carpentry & Woodwork. He was quick to make a joke in any scenario, even the grimmest of moments. Tony was a story teller, a cowboy, a solider and as resilient as the strongest elements on this planet. He was a hard worker, he rooted for the good guys and he was proud to be an American. He never desired pity or praise, fame or glory. To his children, he was the King of Cool, and a comfort in hard times. He will be greatly missed and his amazing stories will live on as his legacy around campfires and gatherings for many years.
Mr. Zurowski is predeceased by his Brother, Joseph Zurowski and his Daughter Angela Rossi Zurowski Andersen. He is survived by his son Anthony Zurowski III and his wife Cecilia and his Grandson Louie Zurowski; his sisters Barbara Wallace and Patricia Henn; his nephew Phil Wallace & Daughters; his niece Jen Vanderwall her Husband Scott and their Son and Daughter; his nephew Mark Henn his Wife Wendy and their Daughter; his nephew Peter Henn his Wife Pamela and their three Daughters; his cousin Jack & Linda Janowitz and their family; as well as his “brother” Mark Bojarski. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements – A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11 am at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the start of the service. Burial with Military honors will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery.
