CHESHIRE - Anne Evelyn Auger, 73, of Cheshire passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 29, 2021, at Hartford Hospital. She is the wife of Donald Auger Sr., whom she said that “she had found the right one” and was “in it for the long haul”.
Mrs. Auger was born May 26, 1947, in Hartford, CT., the eldest daughter of the late Alfred J. and Doris (Charbonneau) Gagne. She attended South Catholic High School in Hartford, and Annhurst College in South Woodstock, CT. She worked for many years at the North Haven Citizen and the Meriden Record-Journal, where she handled obituaries. She taught at St. Dominic School in Southington, and was proud of her time working at the Institute of Living. She was a gifted piano player who loved playing the music of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and others. In her later years, she was a devout piano teacher who served the Cheshire and surrounding areas.
Mrs. Auger was an incredible and special woman whose love and concern for others was deeply and profoundly felt by those who knew her. In addition to her husband of 42 years, Evelyn leaves behind her sons Alex Auger of Cheshire, CT, Donald Auger Jr. and his partner Alia Matacchieri and granddaughter Aya Auger-Matacchieri of Stamford, CT; her daughter and son-in-law Jacqueline Hargrove and Kinnell Hargrove Sr. along with their her other grandchildren Owen Rossomando, Kinnell Hargrove Jr., Ariel Hargrove, and Malcolm Hargrove of Slatington, PA.; her sisters Michelle Peterson of Bloomfield, CT, Bernice Stiffler of Port Orange, FL, and her brothers Alfred Gagne Jr. of Alameda, CA and Raymond Gagne of Andover, CT. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews, and her good friends, Linda Musco and Susan Galullo of Cheshire, and Sheree Cotrona of Wallingford. In addition to her parents, Evelyn is predeceased by her youngest brother Richard Gagne and her lifelong friends Mary DePasquale of Wethersfield and Janet Poitras of New Britain.
Arrangements - Visitation for Mrs. Auger will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish - St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St, Cheshire. Burial will follow at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery.
