CHESHIRE - Annah Amelia (Ives) Cyphers, 91, passed away Monday January 20, 2014 at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late William Cyphers Jr.
Mrs. Cyphers was born December 8, 1922 in South Meriden the daughter of the late Minor and Ethel (Disbrow) Ives. She was born and raised on Diamond Hill Farm in South Meriden before ultimately moving to her Blacks Road home in 1948. She was a member of South Meriden Trinity Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cyphers was an avid Girl Scout throughout her youth as well as a member of the Connecticut Horseman Assoc. A lifelong housewife, she spent her time tending vegetables and flower gardens, canning and acting the role of seamstress for her family. Annah lovingly cared for her special needs daughter, Patricia for 34 years. She is remembered for her generosity toward others and lifelong friendships. Annah lived with horses throughout her life and spent her free time riding. In the later part of her life, she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and particularly enjoyed the West. She was a longtime Bookkeeper for Chadwick Septic in Cheshire as well as an employee of Interpay Payroll Services. until her retirement. Annah loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and could often be found in the kitchen making them elaborate breakfasts on the weekends. She will be missed by all.
Mrs. Cyphers is survived by her daughter Edith Feick and her husband Peter of Stratford; her son William Cyphers III and his wife Margaret of Cheshire; her grandchildren Julie Peters, Peter Feick Jr., Beth Weldon, Mark Cyphers; her great grandchildren Oliver Peters, Sidney Weldon, William Weldon and Brooke Cyphers. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her daughter Patricia Sue Cyphers; her siblings Julius Ives, Frank Ives, Edward Ives, Edith Ives and Ruth (Ives) Howe.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Friday January 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Southington Care Center 45 Meriden Road, Southington, CT 06489.
