Ann “Nancy” Mackiewicz, age 87, of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard V. Mackiewicz, Sr. for over 62 years until his passing in 2015. Ann was born on November 23, 1932 in Waterbury, daughter of the late William J. and Mary (Hanlon) Meehan.
Nancy worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Cheshire Convalescent Home and the Red Cross, where she retired from in the early 1990’s. Nancy and her husband, Dick enjoyed watching UCONN Women’s Basketball games and skiing in Vermont at Okemo. She will be remembered for her compassion and the caring concern she had for others throughout her life, Nancy was a lover of animals, especially dogs.
Nancy is the beloved mother of Richard Vincent Mackiewicz, Jr. and his wife, Tina of Rock Hill, SC; William Joseph Mackiewicz of Cheshire; and Marybeth Salvato and her husband, Robert of Milford. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Mark and Charlie Mackiewicz of SC, Matthew Salvato of Milford, Ann-Marie Lisi and her husband, Christopher of West Haven and Ashley Brown of CA; cherished great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ann and Ella Marie Lisi; Isabella Mackiewicz, Hayden Lee and Presley Mackiewicz, Charlotte Mackiewicz, and Daylen Matthew Salvato; her brother, William Meehan and his wife, Linda of Georgetown, TX and her brother-in-law, John Mackiewicz of Albany, NY. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Anthony Mackiewicz; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Mackiewicz.
Her family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers and also to those of Season’s Hospice that provided the utmost care and support to Nancy during her illness.
A Graveside Service for Nancy will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 10AM in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with her arrangements.
