CHESHIRE- Angela Aitro, 88, passed away Saturday January 2, 2016 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Angela was predeceased by her former husband, Joseph S. Aitro.
Mrs. Aitro was born December 15, 1927 in New Haven daughter of the late Henry and Carmel (Piscitelli) Antinolfi. She had a wonderful and close relationship with her three sisters, especially her twin, Shirlee Bachrach.
Angela attended and graduated from S.C.S.U (State Teacher College) where she received both her Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Education. She was best known for her dedication to her students as the Art Teacher at Highland Elementary School for many years prior to her retirement.
Angela's life passions included her love of Art and Painting. In her free time she loved spending time at the Owenego Beach Club in Branford, and above all, loved spending time with her granddaughters and family.
She is survived by her son Joseph and his wife Moira Aitro of Cheshire; two daughters Adrienne and her husband James Sperruzzi of Cheshire, and Robin Aitro of Cheshire; her sister Sally Festa of Cheshire; and two granddaughters Tara and Megan Aitro. She was predeceased by her twin sister Shirlee Bachrach, and sister Elvira Lupoli. She was a loving aunt to Dawn Hubbard, Denise Bachrach, and Laura Lupoli.
Arrangements- A Funeral Service for Mrs. Aitro will be held 10 A.M Wednesday January 6, 2015 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410. Burial will follow after the service in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire, 06410. Calling hours will be held Tuesday January 5, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M at the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Franciscan Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave, Meriden, CT 06451.
