MIAMI, FL. and SOUTHBURY, CT- Mrs. Amee S. (Krakoff) Fishman, 97, of Miami, Fl. and Southbury, CT, passed away early Monday morning Aug. 31, 2015 at her home in Florida. She was the wife of Al S. Fishman.
Mrs. Fishman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 17, 1917, the only daughter of the late Jules and Carolyn (Silberstein) Krakoff and she and her husband had been residents of Southbury since 1975, moving to Conn., from Brooklyn. She was educated in the NYC school system and was a graduate of the Parsons School of Design and had been an Interior Decorator for a number of years. While a resident of Brooklyn, she had been an active member of Congregation Beth Elohim of Park Slope, Brooklyn, and its sisterhood, and had been a past Pres. of B’Nai B’rith Women’s chapter in Brooklyn, the A D L, and a Life Member of Hadassah. Following their move to Conn., she was a member of the former Temple Israel of Waterbury and then a member of Temple B’Nai Israel of Southbury.
Besides her husband Al of over 69 years, she leaves a son, Jerry S. Fishman and his wife Diane of Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter-in-law, Susan Fishman of New Hartford, CT and one granddaughter, Julie (Fishman) Berkowitz and her husband Jason and 2 great-grandchildren, Chloe Alexa and Dylan Matthew all of Miami, Fl. She was predeceased by her son Cary Fishman.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday Sept. 3, 2015 at 2 p.m.in Melchizedek Cemetery, Plank Rd., Waterbury. Shiva will be observed at her Southbury Residence, 753-B Heritage Village immediately following the graveside service with a Shiva Minyan at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening. Shiva will conclude at 11 a.m. on Friday morning.
