NAUGATUCK, CT- Mr. Allan A. Campbell, 88, of 34 Woodland Rd., Bethlehem and a former Naugatuck resident, died Thursday Feb. 5, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Beverly Jane (Noyes) Campbell, who died last Sept. after 57 years of marriage. Mr. Campbell was born in Bridgeport, Sept. 3, 1920 a son of the late Allan and Blanche (Crownenschield) Campbell and had been a resident of Shelton prior to moving to Naugatuck 3 years ago. He had resided in Bethlehem for the past 4 months. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Armyy from 1944 through 1946. During his enlistment, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbons, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He fought in the Battles of North Apennines, Central Europe and Po Valley. He retired in 1980 from Remington Arms in Bridgeport, where he was a gunsmith. for over 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He leaves his son Jeffrey A. Campbell of Bethlehem, with whom he made his home; 4 grandchildren, Mark Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Julia Campbell, and Jason Campbell. He was predeceased by a son, William Campbell. Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in the Conn. Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
