Alice “Zolly” Rainone Montuori, age 97, of Middlebury, CT. passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Middlebury Convalescent Home. She was born on September 17, 1924 in Waterbury, CT. daughter of the late Giuseppe and Vincenza (Zappone) Rainone.
Alice worked as an inspector at Sherwood Medical for more than 36 years before her retirement. She was proud of her Italian heritage and was gifted in the kitchen, famous for her “taralles”, that she made for many family members on special occasions.
Alice was a devoted and selfless mother. Throughout life she remained close to her children, enjoying memorable conversations with them on a daily basis. She was adventurous, driving herself to Vermont late into her 80’s to visit her son and his family. Alice was a very proud and independent woman, one with a unique eye for fashion who enjoyed looking her best at all times. She was loved immensely and will be missed by many friends and family in Connecticut and Vermont.
She was the beloved mother of Anne Schulze of Prospect, CT and Leonard J. Montuori, Jr. of Rutland, VT. Alice is also survived by her loving grandson, Eric Schulze who was the light of her life. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Moffo, Victoria Galasso and her brother Joseph Rainone.
At Alice’s request, a private service will be held at the convenience of her family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury has been entrusted with her care.
