Cheshire - Alice J. Hanlon, 99, passed away, Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Southington Care Center. She was the widow of John J. Hanlon who predeceased her in 2002 after 58 years of marriage.
Mrs. Hanlon was born December 27, 1921 in Bronxville, NY daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Mulady) Mitchell. Alice and John raised their family in Eastchester NY. She moved to Cheshire in 2003 where she remained active in her community through 2018.
Prior to her retirement Alice was an office assistant in both the medical and communications field. She was a member of the Women’s Club in Cheshire, and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas Becket Church, delivering Holy Communion to the homebound. Alice had a beautiful voice and for many years sang in the Immaculate Conception Church Choir in Tuckahoe, NY. She loved to read, and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her daughter- in- law Jeannette Hanlon of Meriden, son Dennis Hanlon and his partner Susan Young of Guilford: 9 grandchildren and their families: Matthew Hanlon; Timothy, Robin, Caydence, and Bella Hanlon; Michael, Carisa, Harper, and Henry Hanlon; Kevin, Stephanie and Logan Hanlon; William, Rhea, and Jessie Rose Zificsak; Shanley, Jim and James Rowe; Sydney, Sawyer, and Stella Hanlon; and several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her son Richard Hanlon, daughter Maureen Zificsak, brothers Thomas and Francis Mitchell Jr.; and sisters Margaret Hartnett, and Helen McGowan.
A calling hour for Mrs. Hanlon will be held 8:30 to 9:30 A.M, Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. The funeral procession will then leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated 10 A.M at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd, Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will follow Holy Mount Cemetery, Cemetery Lane, Eastchester, NY, 10583. In lieu of flowers donations in Alice’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
