Alice Caine, age 92 formerly of Lowell, MA, Cheshire, CT and Tequesta, FL died peacefully on May 13, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield, CT. She had a wonderful Mother’s Day with her family and was surrounded by the loving and compassionate nurses, caregivers and nuns of the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Alice was born September 14,1929 in Lowell, MA to the late Mary Frances Currie and Patrick John Currie. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Caine of Cheshire and Lowell; sisters, Mary Gill (Thomas) of Lowell, MA and Peachtree City, GA and Josephine (Walter) Martin of Pensacola, FL; her brothers, Edward Currie of Lowell, Dr. L. Rodger (Pat) Currie and Francis (Mary) Currie of Chelmsford, MA; and her brother-in-law, Philip Caine and sister-in-law, Helen Caine both of Needham, MA.
Alice is survived by her children, Marianne Caine Tuverson and Dr. Russell Tuverson, Donna and John Dooley and Dan and Muriel Caine; her grandchildren, Christopher Dooley (Rachel Salvo), Kevin (Caylen) Dooley, and Sean Dooley (Rebecca Abkowitz); as well as her step-grandchildren, Eric and Jessica Miller of Trumbull, CT, Christina and Fred Wills of Cheshire, CT, and Sarah and Michael Natter of Wallingford, CT. She was the proud aunt of many nieces and nephews in the Currie and Caine families.
Alice was a woman of strong faith and active in her previous parishes in Lowell, Cheshire, and Tequesta. She had a lifelong devotion to The Sacred Heart, The Blessed Mother and St. Therese.
Alice loved meeting people and sharing stories over a good cup of tea. Her love and smile will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. Alice’s funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11 a.m. and process to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Bridget Church, 435 N. Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. There will be a private burial after the mass for the immediate family.
