CHESHIRE - Alfred G. Terrien, Jr., 83, of Cheshire, died on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Highland Healthcare in Cheshire, after a long illness. He was the husband of Norma G. Terrien for 46 years.
Mr. Terrien was born on December 10, 1926 in Providence, RI, son of the late Alfred G. and Marie Delia (Lemoine) Terrien, Sr. He served on a munitions ship in the Atlantic during WW II. He was also a retired member of the MTC Union Local 26. He was a machinist supervisor and invented many tools during his 43 years of employment with the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation in Groton. He was an avid landscape gardener and was known for his beautiful stone walls, walkways and gardens. He also had a special love of animals. He was a racing fan and in his younger years he raced both motorcycles and stock cars.
Besides his wife Norma, he is survived by two sisters, Jeannette Laporte of Cheshire and Claire Smith of Tiburon, CA, His son, Keith A. Terrien and his wife Cheryl of Cheshire, His Daughter, Michelle R. Terrien and her partner, Carol Evon of East Haven, and his Grandson, Nicholas A. Terrien of Cheshire and his cat Lucy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leonard A. H. Terrien.
Arrangements - A memorial mass will be held at a later date at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 33 North Plains Industrial Road, Wallingford, CT 06492. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
