CHESHIRE - Abby Pichnarcik, 85, formally of North Haven and Pawley’s Island, SC, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home on Nob Hill Rd. in Cheshire surrounded by her extended family. She was a devoted and loving wife of 63 years to George R. Pichnarcik Jr., who survives; as well as her loving miniature poodles Toby, Tiny and Munchkin.

Abby was born May 28, 1933 in New Haven, the daughter of the late George H. and the late Ester (Bradley) Vincent and was baptized on September 24, 1933 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Meriden. “Gail” as she was known by her close family members, married George R. Pichnarcik at Holy Angels Catholic Church in South Meriden on November 12, 1955.

Abby grew up in Meriden, was a graduate of St. Margaret School in Waterbury in 1952 and graduated from business school in Meriden in 1954. She worked for International Silver for over 30 years as a sales correspondent and then transitioned to World Tableware, a subsidiary of International Silver; when International Silver moved overseas. She retired from Marlin Firearms Co. in North Haven as a private secretary in 2004.

Abby and her husband were avid boaters out of Westbrook and enjoyed trips out on the sound on their yacht “Sea Fun”, with their miniature poodles, family and friends. She was a descendant of patriot Samuel Atwater of Cheshire, who was a drummer in the American Revolution. She was also a direct descendant of William Bradley who was an early founder of the New Haven Colony in 1638. After their retirement, she and George (Sonny) moved to Pawley’s Island, SC to the warmer weather and to enjoy the sun with family and friends. They most recently moved back to Cheshire in the fall of 2018 to be closer to family.

Abby is survived on her side by her sister-in-law, Margaret R. Vincent of Westbrook; her eight nieces and nephews William "Chip" (Peg) Lee, Cathy Lee, Nancy Lee, Peter (Dana) Lee, Chris (Tovah) Vincent, Matthew Vincent, David (Tatiana) Vincent and Sarah Vincent. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Ann (Vincent) and LTC William W. Lee Jr.; her brother Peter Bradley Vincent and her nephew and his wife Steve Vincent and Alice R. Lee.

Abby is also survived by George’s sister Edith Patterson of Kissimmee, FL; her five nieces and nephews Leonard Ricci Jr., John (Melanie) Ricci, Barbara (Larry) Ruddy, Nancy (Daniel) Collins, and Patricia Carlson all of Cheshire. She was predeceased by George’s parents George R. and Stella (Gimza) Pichnarcik; her brother-in-law John “Butch” Pichnarcik; her sister-in-laws Evelyn Ricci and Louise Galipeau; her niece Katherine Ricci and nephew Larry Carlson.

Arrangements – A funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 10 am at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. The funeral will then proceed to the Hubbard/Bradley Memorial Chapel in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd., Meriden. Burial will follow in the Walter Hubbard Bradley family plot within the grounds of Walnut Grove Cemetery.
